FAQ

Where are you located?

Balansa Center is located at 32 Piermont Road, Suite 7, Cresskill, NJ.

Some of our services are provided to you online. So, we can meet wherever you are… anywhere in the world!

What are your hours?
My hours are flexible, so we can figure them out once we start working together.
How long is each session?
Each session lasts one hour.
Do you take insurance?
No, I do not take insurance.
How do I set up an initial appointment?

If you would like to schedule an appointment or take advantage of a free 30-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit to work together, just give me a call: (201) 639-1406.

What is your cancellation policy?
I require at least 24 hours’ notice for all cancellations. Otherwise, the session will be charged in full.
With whom do you work?
I work with individual adults (men and women, ages 18 and up).
What will we do together in session?

I use a powerful combination of somatic movement exercises, conversation, and management exercises. You’re an individual, so your experience will be unique to you, and it will respect your needs and abilities.

The movement exercises can be intense (fast and strong) or more relaxed (done while lying down or seated). You’ll breathe and, with my guidance, notice what’s going on inside (conversation). The conversation is empowerment-oriented.

The combination will give you and me a clearer and more complete picture of where you are and where you want to go.

We’ll work together to create your path, and, again, it will be geared toward what you can do safely and comfortably.

Will I get an assignment between the sessions?

Yes, you will. You will receive simple movement exercises (mostly breathing, grounding, and centering) and writing tasks using tools and ideas from the coaching and leadership world.

These between-session assignments let you go deeper into the process and make faster progress.

What is your approach?

After many years of experience in therapy, education, and management, I have created the Balansa Method.

Please see My Approach to read all about it.

What’s your professional training and expertise?
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in social work (University of Haifa, Israel).
  • Certified dance instructor and certified martial arts (Wingate Institute in Israel).
  • Certified Movement Analyst (Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies).
  • Certified Somatic Therapist and Educator (International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association).
  • Certified Scrum Master (Leadership and management skills, making decisions, and reacting to change with agility).

To see how all of these certifications blend to give you a uniquely empowering experience, I welcome you to read all about My Approach.

What makes working with you special?

Two main things make working with me special (besides the smile and great looks).

The first is my natural talent for “connecting the dots” through keen observation of movement patterns. When we work together, I’ll actually embody your experience, using it to empathize with you, helping me understand what you might not be able to express in words. This gives me a stable, nonjudgmental demeanor as I attend to your true experience.

The second strength is my ability to combine deep understanding and insight of movement with functional, easy-to-practice tools from the management and leadership world.

What is your life’s motto?

“Own The Change.”

Change is the only constant thing in our lives, so we must learn to deal with it, create it, and own it.

When you were a child, what did you dream of growing up to be?
I wanted to be a ballerina. It didn’t come true, but I never stopped dancing.
What do you like to do when you are not in the clinic?
I dance a lot (ballet, modern, salsa, and samba), train and teach the Afro-Brazilian martial art, Capoeira, and love the beach.
What is a non-professional dream you’re pursuing?
Recently, I started to take guitar lessons with my son. He’s only 16, but he’s a great teacher.
Where is your favorite place to be?
The beach in the Kibbutz in Israel, where I grew up.
What is your favorite song?
“Feeling Good” by Nina Simone. For me, this song is all about embodiment and physical empathy.
