Hands-On Somatic Therapy

I watched *Eliza struggling to get out of her car when she came to see me
for the first time.

achingOver the phone, she told me that she had a “silly accident” while playing in the park with her kids.

She didn’t think much of it at the time.

The next day, the pain was still there. She was limping, but she had to go to work. Later that day,
she helped her mom with the shopping.

Eliza went about her life, ignoring the mild pain in her knee. By the end of the week, her hip was
bothering her.

By the end of the month, the pain had moved into her back, and she was starting to have real
trouble getting around.

6 months later she came to see me.

She was frustrated by the pain that bothered and aggravated her 24/7.

As I watched Eliza getting out of her car and walking to my door, I observed her movement
patterns and became curious about compensation and avoidance in her life.

body-mind-soulI see you as a whole person – not a symptom

As a movement analyst, I approach my work and my life with a holistic approach.

Your thoughts and feelings are not separated from your physical condition, so when I work with
you, I take all aspects of who you are into consideration.

To change the whole, we can begin by changing a small part.

To understand what I mean, let’s go back to Eliza.

After 2 sessions, it was clear to both of us that she had to find a way to take a break, breathe, and
ground herself.

But doing that required letting go of the tension and control that her body and mind were holding.

Letting go was super scary for Eliza, who made it her pattern to avoid obstacles and pain by
ignoring them, blocking them, or finding a way around them.

So how does it work?hands-on

We begin with a 30-minute complimentary consultation call where I can get a better idea of what
you are looking for and make sure that I can help you.

The first in-person session is all about getting to know you through a combination of easy-to-
perform movements and a conversation.

We will meet at my serene clinic which is designed to encourage natural flow, relaxation, and a
sense of safety.

After the first session, I will discuss the work plan with you and give you some simple exercises to
practice at home.

navigateYou will navigate your own journey

As a movement analyst, I observe and recognize patterns constantly, but I never form an opinion
about what’s causing them.

Throughout the sessions, I will bring your attention to the movement patterns that I’m observing,
and help you understand if it’s supporting your movement and your progress.

I sometimes wonder about the origin of the pattern, but I never assume that I know.

To understand this concept, let’s go back to Eliza one last time.

Eliza had a minor knee injury, that would have probably healed within a week or two if she took
care of it right away.

As I watched her walk, I immediately noticed the physical compensation for the pain and could see
right away some rigidity in specific joints, and bound muscles in specific areas.

She was not ready to deal with why she created this pattern, and she wasn’t ready to change it.

In Elize’s case, the portion of the hands-on therapy and support was larger than her moving and
learning on her own.

After a while, Eliza found grounding and confidence through her gentle movement practice and
was able to let go of the patterns that held and increased the pain.

Why is The Balansa Method so unique?

You might have tried PT, Pilates, Yoga, massage therapy, acupuncture, and more. Some of these
practices brought you relief, but the pain never really goes away.

The Balansa Method values the support of inner connectivity (muscles, bones, facia, breath) and
the space around us to create efficient movement patterns.

The knowledge and the tools that my clients gain through the process last a lifetime and support
them for the rest of their lives.

You can leave the pain behind, and you don’t have to do it alone.

The sooner you start, the sooner you can enjoy life on the other side of pain.
